Welcome to my blog!

Hi, I’m Preston Hagaman, a normal guy with an obsession for reading, learning and helping others. On this blog, I share reflections on what I’m learning and life. Here's what you can expect.

I believe the person you become is the result of the inner choices you make, not the external circumstances surrounding you.

How those choices play out in your life and mine comes down to one thing—discipline.

  • Do you have the discipline to hold the line and make good, healthy choices? Or are you lacking the fortitude to stand strong?
  • Are you physically active, or staying on the couch?
  • Do you stay within your budget or overspend?
  • Are you daily abiding with Christ in His Word, or coasting Sunday to Sunday?

The answer to all of these questions and a hundred like them comes down to how you apply discipline to every area of your lives.

You have to stay vigilant and on the hunt for weakness. You can't give it a foot hold. Because every time you do, it wreaks havoc in your life.

Your not the only person asking these questions and struggling to answer them. It's part of the human experience.

This is a place we work on answering these questions and learning what it looks like to apply discipline to every aspect of life.

If you have a passion for learning and getting better this blog is for you.

I publish new posts daily. If you don’t want to miss a thing, sign up for updates by entering your email address below.

Who writes this?

I've spent my entire life in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and wouldn't have it any other way. While I traveled a bit in college, the thought of leaving Big D never crossed my mind. Some people dream of graduating and moving to a big city like New York, Boston or Chicago, but not me. My dream has always been to live and die in the great state of Texas.

"As an only child," Charles Johnson said, "books became my replacement for siblings." I've had a love for books, learning and writing from my earliest days.

I met a beautiful blonde named Hannah while working as a recruiter following college. After dating for a short time we married in 2012.

We live in the Dallas area with our son and two golden retrievers. I'm a former college recruiter and banker, and spend my time reading, writing and teasing out what I'm learning.

I'm also a wedding photographer with Cottonwood Road Photography. We're closing in on our 100th wedding! If you're interested in having us photograph your big day, your family or your new baby, check out our website.

This interview on The Cheerful Visit is a great introduction to our story, who we are and how we do business.
